Toledo Area Community Credit Union is Now Directions Credit Union
Why the name change?
The decision to operate under a new name came after the January 1, 2008 merger in the Toledo Area with Toledo Area Community Credit Union and Erie Shores Credit Union. This latest partnership made us the 4th largerst credit union in the state of Ohio. With our growing branch network of 9 locations in the Toledo Area and 11 in Central Ohio (currently branded as Empire Affiliates a division of Toledo Area Community Credit Union), we felt it was time to operate under one unified brand name.
Why Directions Credit Union?
Our goal in selecting a new name was to find a name that was unique, memorable, meaningful, and would grow with us. The definition of the word directions, stands for: care, guidance, course, leadership, path, route, toward, etc. The name Directions is descriptive of what we believe makes our credit union special and unique. As a member owned organization, our primary goal is to help our members achieve their dreams and goals in life. Whatever direction your life is headed, we are here to help guide you through your journey. So, whether your goal is putting your children through college, buying your first home, saving for that dream vacation, or planning for retirement, your credit union is here to assist you and provide you with financial "direction" to help you achieve your dreams.
We kicked off the new name with a media campaign that started on April 15, 2008. Around that same time we put up new signage and you started to see everything transition to the new name. Please note that your Directions Credit Union checks, VISA cards, Debit Cards, etc. will continue to work with the Toledo Area Community Credit Union name. You will receive checks with the Directions Credit Union name when you re-order and cards will have the Directions Credit Union name upon re-issue at time of expiration.
